LIFE OF BYRON
L-R:Ryan, Byron, Oliver & Darren
How did you get the band name?
Life of Byron comes from an amalgamation of the great British comedy Life of Brian and the name of singer Byron : ) The cleverness of this name is matched only by the wit of the guitarist who thought of the idea : ) (Oliver)
Tell us about your latest/upcoming single/album
Life of Byron is awaiting its debut album due to be released in the spring of next year. The band has been collecting a wide variety of songs ranging from electronic acoustic ballads to all out dirty, loud, alt rock. It is being produced so as to shock, surprise & encourage people......
What’s your favourite song to play live?
Leave Yourself Behind ! We've tried a lot of different styles lately trying to mix our set up a little bit and give people a nice variety and diverse tunes to listen to. The end of our set usual bows out to this song and it just builds up and rocks! It is a statement of who we are and what we're genuinely about. We love to keep it real!
What is the best live show you've played so far?
The best live show we've played to date was Brownstock Festival 2009. We played the main stage on the Sunday and rocked it : ) It was great being up on a big stage and we really felt like we belonged there.
Where would your dream venue be to play a live show?
I'd love to play in a library. The opening would be soft soothing music as the band is revealed from underneath a big curtain! I'd love to see the faces on all the people studying as we cranked the amps to 11 and began playing! The intro would be playing on a big screen outside the library where people wait to come in. When we launched into the first song the doors would open and people could just flood the library! : )
What is the weirdest thing a fan has asked you to sign?
Teeth
Why do you love your fans so much?
Anyone who appreciates your music gives you a sense of well being, contentment, worth and reason for living.
What song do you wish you had written?
Sex on Fire - Kings of Leon!!! Clever, sexy and the ladies love it!
What’s your favourite concept album?
Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon. It never gets boring, you hear something new everytime you listen to it and it is so diverse! Sends you to a different place!
What’s the weirdest conversation you have ever had with a fan?
There are loads but I had one such conversation with a guy at a gig in Colchester once who proceeded to tell me how to make it to the 'big time' He suggested laying on a huge buffet for all A&R people, inviting them down to a fancy venue in London (costing you thousands to hire) then get on stage a cut the head off a pig before we started playing......the plan didn't work .......
Who argues the most?
Oliver! He's such a bitch!
Who has the worst habits and what is it?
Ryan! Playing guitar! Oh, the noise! : )
Who is your idol, and why?
The Hoff! Extremely envious of his chest hair & agility
Would you ever play a gig naked?
I'm sure
If you were a camel who would you most like to spit on?
Wouldn't waste any of my hump stored bodily fluids on anyone I'd like to spit on!
Sum your music up in two words?
The truth
What band would you love to play a show with?
There are so many! I'm sure the guys would all have their favourites but for me it would be fronting a supergroup! I'd want Stewart Copeland as my percussion meastro, Flea undoubtedly on bass, Buckethead playing guitar and Eddie Vedder sharing vocal duties! Failing that, bumpin & grindin with Rihanna!!
What are the plans for the future?
Feed ourselves with money made from music : )
