How did you get the band name?
(Dan) Well, when we were naming the band we all were shooting out names. Brian wanted a name with citizen and Don wanted to have a name with dear. after a few failed attempts at naming the band they put the two together and it fit. Not only did it sound cool,but is also had a political edge the we liked.
Tell us about your latest/upcoming single/album
(Dan) Well its our new album coming out in 2010 called "State of Mind" it will have ten songs on it and it will be available on itunes hopefully in February or March. We did alot of experimenting in the studio and we think it came out pretty good. you can check out any updates on it on myspace.com/dearcitizen.com.

What is the best live show you've played so far?
(Dan) Our favorite gig would have to be this benefit show for our friend Baker. The show was to help raise money for an operation on his shattered arm and elbow. He was going to need two surgeries that would cost well over 200,000$, and his coverage was limited and he couldn't work until he had these operations. So us and another band The Sewing Machine War played our set and other friends cooked, organized, promoted the benefit dinner.
Over all we love that show not because of how big the crowd was, but because it was for a friend in need and it showed us how there is still good in the world, and how each of his friends held the benefit show and gave their time and effort to help out a friend. It was impacting.
Where would your dream venue be to play a live show?
(Brian) Any Arena or nice venue, more locally though we would love to play at the musica in akron Ohio, or the Grog shop in cleveland.
What is the weirdest thing a fan has asked you to sign?
nothing out of the ordinary.
Why do you love your fans so much?
(Dan) "Because they are the reason we keep going. We do what we do because we love it but when there are other people who appreciate our music and love it too that makes us want to do it even more. We love our fans and we try our best to stay connected with them on via myspace. We love hearing from them and what they think about whats going on with Dear Citizen. To all our fans out there we love you and we want to meet you guys Thank you so much."
What song do you wish you had written?
Dan- Coffee by Copeland, Fix You by Coldplay, Hands Down by Dashboard Confessional, Petand your alive by Lovedrug
Brian- Fix you by coldplay,
Don- any of the Beatles songs.
Derek- Anything from Radiohead, Underoath, or by Hammock.
What’s your favourite concept album?
We all like Viva la vida by coldplay, Sams town by the Killers, and many more.
What’s the weirdest conversation you have ever had with a fan?
(Don) we played on Halloween at this place called the outpost and everyone dressed up and so this guy dressed up as Santa came up to me after we were done playing and said you were awesome and pulled me to the front where this other band was playing and told me about the band and how he knew them haha it was humorous I'll never forget that.
Who argues the most?
(Don)-haha that would have to be Dan and Brian. They both argue about little stuff ,but whats funny is they miss understand each others views and so really they want the same thing but they argue about it until they realize they are on the same side. It really funny actually.
Who has the worst habits and what is it?
(Don)Um nobody really has bad habbits i guess Derek eats too healthy haha but thats about it really.
Who is your idol, and why?
(Don)- God, Paul Mcartney, Chris Martin, Beatles, Coldplay, Copeland.
(Derek)- God, Underoath, Chris Martin, Cold Play, Aaron Gillespie.
(Brian)- God, Mom, Coldplay, The Killers, Death cab for cutie.
(Dan)- God, Parents, Mute Math, Emery, The National, Lovedrug, As Cities Burn, Me Without You.
Would you ever play a gig naked?
(Don) haha umm no I don't think so.
If you were a camel who would you most like to spit on?
um... not sure

(Dan) I don't think i can but it is Epic/Original
If you were to have one superpower, what would it be?
Dan- be able to shoot out electricity or fire or ice. or teleport like in the movie jumper.
Derek- Hulk strength or fly
Don- run really fast or fly
Brian- Fly or have extreme wisdom.
What’s the weirdest gift a fan has ever given you?
(Derek) ah any gift is a good gift its the thought that counts.
What do you enjoy the most about being in the band?
(Dan) I love music and even more creating it and when i can do this with my best friends it makes it even better. Since i was 10 I wanted to be in a band and make music so its really a dream come true. and most of all talking with fans.
(Derek) Doing what i love playing the drums and with my friends, reaching out to fans.
(Brian) Being with my friends creating music and reaching out to fans.
(Don) being able to do what i love doing playing guitar and talking to fans.
What band would you love to play a show with?
Ah probably these 4 Dear and the Headlights, Coldplay, The Killers, Agaustana.
Who writes the main amount of your material?
(Dan) Brian writes most of the lyrics and usually comes up with the chord progressions, when he shows us the piano riff we all kinda add our two cents worth to it and then it becomes a Dear Citizen song.
What are the plans for the future?
(Brian) We just want to continue and get our album out there, talk to our fans and maybe go on the road to make new fans and reach out to the old ones.
