A Tsunami of crime across the country....

I realise this isn't usually what I use this site for but......

A Tsunami of crime across the country….

The riots are at least 50 miles from me, Liverpool is the closest. It seems some what strange that the riots that started in London have spread up to Birmingham, Nottingham, Liverpool, Manchester and Leeds. Copycat crime, silly children seeing what is happening in London and trying to imitate the same mindless behaviour. There was more police for this year’s Royal wedding than on the streets trying to protect the public over the past few nights. It’s crazy. In reply to being asked if they need to bring the army in, it was said that it wasn’t needed and anyway, we haven’t got much of an army left in this country. Surely we should be sorting out our own country instead of other countries?! Why aren’t we our own priority? I think the army needs to be brought in. Show the little boys and girls the real men and women who fight for our country, fight to keep us safe, fight to the death. Maybe we need to bring back national service. Hell, if I had to serve my time to make this country a better place, I would. The thing that really annoys me about all of this, it’s teenagers, 14 or 15 years old. They have no idea yet about the real world. They don’t work, they don’t pay taxes, they don’t have families to support. If they did, maybe they could understand just how much they are destroying people’s lives with their senseless violence. Do half of these children even understand what they’re “protesting” for, why they’re doing this to our country, their communities? I doubt it. We live in a country of angry young people, annoyed at society. However, I think we can all agree this isn’t the best way of dealing with the issues young people face. It is ridiculous, it is terrifying. If we don’t stand up and show these children how to behave, something which they obviously aren’t getting from family influence or role models, this will just carry on and get worse. Get these children doing Army cadets, doing their Duke of Edinburgh, volunteering and get them off the streets thinking that they’re “badmen.” Let’s try and clean up this country and fight back in the best way possible-peacefully!!

Interview with FranKo

FranKo are a young 4 piece pop/rock band from London. Here, they all tell us a bit more about themselves.... (for more information go to: http://www.myspace.com/frankouk or search for them on facebook!!)

TOMMY:

Who argues the most?

We all argue all the time, but it’s healthy. It’s better than keeping it all inside.

Who has the worst habits and what is it?

We don't have any, obviously.

Who is your idol?

Jarred Leto, great frontman and has been in some amazing films. Requiem for a Dream, Fight Club and American Psycho to name a few.

Would you ever play a gig naked?

No, we are not whores who need a gimmick to make people listen to our music.

If you were a camel who would you most like to spit on?

I'd spit on bullies, I heard they like it.

Sum your music up in two words?

Refreshing, unexpected

RICHARD:

Tell us about your latest / upcoming single / album

Well, we're working on an EP that will be coming out in the spring that will coincide with a tour of the UK and hopefully South East Asia too. Which will include some nice new tracks of ours and our own cover of Vienna that we recently shot an epic music video for. Keep your eyes out!

What’s your favourite song to play live?

That's a tough one, but it's usually the latest songs that we've written together that are the most exciting to play live. There's a very new track called Eye of the Storm that is probably my favourite.

What is the best live show you've played so far?

It has to be between the last date of the latest tour that we did, which was in Edinburgh, Scotland, or when we played at Indigo2 at the O2 in London a while back. At both gigs the atmosphere was something else and I'd love to relive them both!

Where would your dream venue be to play a live show?

Obviously Wembley would be awesome to play, but there's this venue in America, Colorado I think, called Red Rocks which looks absolutely stunning, check it out online and you'll see what I mean! It would be a dream to play there for me.

CHRIS:

What is the best live show you've played so far?
There are lots but I think it has to be the last show of tour with Elliot minor in Edinburgh at the HMV Picture house, the Scottish fans were amazing and was fun to have all the stage invasions!

What song do you wish you had written?

Under The Bridge by the Chili Peppers

Who is your idol?

Flea from the Red Hot Chili Peppers

What band would you love to play a show with?

There's many, but top 3 are the Chili Peppers, The Beatles and Queen

BEAU:

What is the weirdest thing a fan has asked you to sign?

I'm quite sure the strangest thing I’ve "had" to sign was a fan’s breast :P

I was forced to, I suppose for rockstars its not that weird but it was for me the first time!

Why do you love your fans so much?

Our fans are more like friends, we chat and always communicate online if not after shows at the merch stand. They're all individuals that are loyal to us and always have praise about us. We find that the more love we give the more it comes back, it’s an equal relationship with those guys :)

What’s the weirdest thing you had a conversation about with one of your fans?

I'd say it would be about our favourite Pokemon, we were just reliving the childhood dreams and fantasising about what Pokemon we would be if we had the chance.

You don’t normally talk about those things when you're 19 but I'm not really normal :D

Dave Giles Interview

Dave Giles is a solo acoustic artist from London. Here, he tells us more about himself and his music.
For more information, search Dave J Giles on facebook! :)

Tell us about your latest/upcoming single/album

I've just sold out of my first EP, but its available on itunes. Its called The First Seven because it was the first seven songs i wrote when i went solo... I'm currently writing my second EP, which will be called "Tales of a Social Misfit" I'm hoping to have it released by early april.

What’s your favourite song
to play live?
Dangermouse... i just like the chord structure, its got a pleasing melody to sing as well!

What is the best live show you've played so far?
As a solo artist it would be supporting Ivyrise at the O2 Academy in Islington. It was the biggest crowd i'd played to, and the first gig i did with a full backing band. They made me sound amazing!

Where would your dream venue be to play a live show?
Madison Square Garden, New York

What is the weirdest thing a fan has asked you to sign?
I've yet to experience anything too weird.

Why do you love your fans so much?
Without them I'm nothing... its really incredible to think that people actually connect with a song you've written to the point where they want to come and see you sing it!

What song do you wish you had written?
Golden Years by David Bowie

What’s the weirdest conversation you have ever had with a fan?
erm..... i don't really know?

Who is your idol?
I have a few... but Billy Bragg is probably up there as numero uno. He's everything i want to be in a performer.

Would you ever play a gig naked?
Yes, because i'm pretty shameless, but at the same time no, because my mum and dad wouldn't be happy about it.

If you were a camel who would you most like to spit on?
What a strange question... Schalk Burger.... he's a rugby player for South Africa, and he really irritates me

Sum your music up in two words?
Playfully honest

What band would you love to play a show with?
The Arcade Fire... they're the best live band around in the world at the moment.

What are the plans for the future?
Well I'll be doing my living room tour the whole summer, playing gigs in peoples living rooms, gardens, conservatories or wherever they want. This is all to promote my tour, which i'm currently planning for October.

Fly Frankie Fly Interview

FlyFrankieFly are a 2 piece club/electro piece from the UK. Here, FrankieFly tells us some more about them.... (for more information, check out: http://www.myspace.com/francoiscotemusic )

Tell us about your latest/upcoming single/album

We are currently working on a big release that will hopefully be on I-tunes by the summer.
We're having so much fun recording it and are really excited to show it to the world!

What’s your favourite song to play live?

Ah, well that would be one of the new ones, and we can't spill the beans just yet. :P
In the past we really enjoyed playing the old songs that people would sing along to!

What is the best live show you've played so far?

We've really had fun at all the shows we've ever played! Gotta say though that there was one in particular
that we played with 'Example' that was a 1400 sellout, the vibe that night was electric.

Where would your dream venue be to play a live show?

Oooh, erm, what about Wembley?

What is the weirdest thing a fan has asked you to sign?

Haha, i remember once a fan who wanted their phone signed. At first i didnt want to, it was a really expensive phone.

Why do you love your fans so much?

We love that they make what we do even more enjoyable, especially when they come to shows already with tribal facepaints!
Dedication!

What song do you wish you had written?

Always a tough one, do you pick a song you love or a song that made millions. haha.
How about, 'Out of space' by the Prodigy.

What’s the weirdest conversation you have ever had with a fan?

Were always chatting to our fans so have endless wierd conversations. :)
Not saying that our fans are wierd. haha.
We just chat about anything and everything!

Who argues the most?

That would be me but i would argue it wasnt.

Who has the worst habits and what is it?

Were actually not too bad with this stuff.
I guess i bite my nails? rock-n-roll!

Who is your idol?

Tough question, i respect so many people in the industry.
I cant name one. I guess if you pinned me down id say, keith flint , freddy mercury and john lennon?

Would you ever play a gig naked?

Haha, no.
Unless there was a really good reason to!

If you were a camel who would you most like to spit on?

Questions like this always get me in trouble haha.
So what im gonna do is get on a plane and set random coordinates,
and then spit out of it. It seems the fairest way.

Sum your music up in two words?

Jelly Tots

What band would you love to play a show with?

Pendulum, Prodigy, Skrillex to name a few

What are the plans for the future?

World domination. Mwhahahahahahaa.

Interview With One Summer On

One Summer On are a Shrewsbury based pop punk band. Here, front man Dom Morgan tells us a bit more about the band..... (for more on One Summer On, check out their facebook page or http://www.myspace.com/onesummeronuk )

What’s your favourite song to play live?
Hmm....at the moment probably a relatively new one called Hit The Rocks....were in the process of recording it at the moment....its very energetic.

What is the best live show you've played so far?
Its hard to say really. Theres good points about larger and smaller more intermate gigs.....from the nice to the grotty. But from a well performed gig from our perspective id say probably one of the Cystic Fibrosis Charity Gigs weve done....people enjoy them and get a buzz from doing good too...everyones a winner.

Where would your dream venue be to play a live show?
Um....i dunno....maybe the Parthenon in Greece at night, that would be a pretty cool setting. But Wembly or the Milton Keynes Bowl id settle for. Ha!

What is the weirdest thing a fan has asked you to sign?

Her face! Ha!...i think that was you Siany. Theres been a couple of wierd ones tho.
Why do you love your fans so much?

Well being a smaller kind of underground band its great to have loyal fans....like the ones who go the extra mile....help promote you or keep pushing your music around.....but even the ones who just get in touch online and stuff to tell you how they enjoy the music....at the end of a working day when you feel worn out and broken down, wondering if its ever gona go anywhere big, its just great to read.
What song do you wish you had written?
Hmm....the big one.lol....the one that makes us. Then we would be sitting on our throwns in our mansions drinking beers thinking yeah!!....finally.

But seriously i reckon theres too many awesome tracks out there to pick one....but probably Basket Case.....Green Day rule all.

What’s the weirdest conversation you have ever had with a fan?
Hmm...thats a hard one...i dont think there is one....when talking to a fan anything is allowed.....i guess.

Who argues the most?
Well.....at one point that was probably me and Sam.....we used to butt heads in practice trying to get things right....i think were both just too stubborn.
We both like things our way....i can totally admit im difficult.....and hes younger....were both hot headed.

Who has the worst habits and what is it?
We all have our own.....Jon gets angry if he doesnt get things right and then throws his drum sticks around the practice room....Ry insists on sitting on fences rather than giving his opinion, Sam can take a million years tuning his guitar till its perfect enough for him and I....well....im just a typical front guy who wants as much attention as i can get....i guess.

Who is your idol?
Well i can safely say Billie Joe Armstrong, Kelly Jones and James Dean Bradfield are all huge impacts on me.

Would you ever play a gig naked?
Haha. Hmm....in the right climate and given the right amount of drink and praise then perhaps.

If you were a camel who would you most like to spit on?
Haha....David Cameron for a start....then id go round the whole house of commons flobbing everywhere....and then maybe Sarah Jessica Parker and her sluttly old mates in the City too.

Sum your music up in two words?

Punchy and Melodic.
What band would you love to play a show with?
Green Day!!!!

What are the plans for the future?

Well were still working on the new songs at the moment.....hopefully have them finished soon. To be honest the next step were not so sure on, theres a few changes coming but were defernatly not done yet.

Interview with 4jerry

4jerry are a Wrexham based punk rock band. Here, Steve Dwight tells us more about them......

Tell us about your latest/upcoming single/album
Hmmm, we have only ever recorded ep's - and the song we are most proud of is 'You'll never know' - its on our myspace @ myspace.com/4jerryrock - two local bands have covered it so it must be ok!!! We need to write an albums worth of songs that good now!!
What’s your favourite song to play live?
I personally love 'Ever fallen in love?' by The Buzzcocks which we open every show with....next favourite would be 'Time to fly' by Stuntface, a Wrexham punk band - we try to promote local bands by covering their songs, and that one is ace!
What is the best live show you've played so far?
We have had some great times with great crowds and great bands but a highlight would be supporting the Vibrators @ Revolver on Helloween 2009, in full zombie punk costume!
Where would your dream venue be to play a live show?
Probably the 100 Club in London as many great punk shows have taken place their. After that it would be to play good shows to home crowds in Wrexham.
What is the weirdest thing a fan has asked you to sign?
Her massive boobs!! (thanks Bunty!) I signed underneath in the hope of seeing some nipple, but, alas, no luck.
Why do you love your fans so much?
Without fans there is no point to what we do!! The reason we get up and play is for them and the importance of the crowd and fans cannot be overstated....we do it for them!
What song do you wish you had written?
Anything by NOFX....amazingly catchy songs - effortlessly cool and always fun.
What’s the weirdest conversation you have ever had with a fan?
Probably about what guitars we use, or what amps etc.....we buy cheap and dont really worship our equipment so those conversations are lost on us!!! Other than that we have had some very inebriated fans trying to have convos with us....doesnt really work when we are sober!
Who argues the most?
Probably J (singer/guitarist) and myself - we started the band over 8 years ago and take it personally, so sometimes things get tense...but without him there is no band so we always work it out - we are all best buds 99.9% of the time.
Who has the worst habits and what is it?
Think we are all pretty well behaved...no horror stories I'm afraid.
Who is your idol?
Malcolm Young from AC/DC - I always wanted to be the rhythm guitar player who just rocked out and held the band together...it actually turns out I am noting like that and if things go wrong it's usually my fault!!!
Would you ever play a gig naked?
Erm, well, dunno? Why? Ive played in drag before...does that count???
If you were a camel who would you most like to spit on?
Anyone who stays at home and watches X-factor or any other crap reality talent show rather than getting out and watching live music...the world would be a better place if those shows were banned!!
Sum your music up in two words?
Awesomely average
What band would you love to play a show with?
Sex Pistols Experience - the world best Sex Pistols tribute band.
What are the plans for the future?
Keep playing and keep finding new fans and friends along the way.

Interview with AMFX

AMFX are a 4 piece pop punk band based in Shrewsbury/Wrexham. Here, front man Graeme Kynaston tells us a bit about the band.... (for more information check out: http://www.facebook.com/amfxband)

Tell us about your latest/upcoming single/album
Our debut EP "The Third Strike" was abit special, it was recorded in Ventura California with the help from members of the band Army Of Freshmen. Since i had just left my old band to follow this dream of recording with them, it was amazing having them play my songs and with Aaron (Goldberg) also producing it ended up beyond anything i could have wanted.

What’s your favourite song to play live?
Tough one, probably "FTW" as its the most angry, ranty song ive written but yet its just so happy and upbeat...that and before we play it I like to find out who in the crowd likes Twilight and then abuse them for it.

What is the best live show you've played so far?
There's been two shows that were pretty fantastic, playing for BBC Radio One's Introducing show at Wrexham's Central Station was great fun, we played well and sold alot of merch aswell. The other was also for the BBC, this time for Radio Shropshire Introducing a few weeks later. We played a live set in the studio and we just nailed it, since we had no practice for the previous 2 weeks, playing the best we've ever done was a pleasent suprise.

Where would your dream venue be to play a live show?
Personally im not a fan of arena shows, they seem to lose the personal touch between the bands and the fans, so I'd be happy to play clubs 300-500 in capacity. Oh! and in America aswell.

What is the weirdest thing a fan has asked you to sign?
I think since were still just less than a year old, being asked to sign anything is pretty weird!

Why do you love your fans so much?
We have fans?

What song do you wish you had written?
Angels by Robbie Williams...just think of the money i could have been in! Weddings everywhere would have to pay me, i wouldnt just let it go willy-nilly like Robbie did. I'd rule music with an Iron Fist!

What’s the weirdest conversation you have ever had with a fan?
There have been many, had lots in the old band but in this new one I've had some intresting ones...that comes with being mentally immature, things just go out of control very quickly.

Who argues the most?
Oli, he's a little bitch sometimes, always with this and that, blah blah blah...I just switch off after awhile

Who has the worst habits and what is it?
Oli does crack off some woeful farts in our practice room from time to time, and its only a small room! I'm also terrible at giving up when things go wrong, but im working on it.

Who is your idol?
Mitch Allan from the band SR-71, the guy is a lyrical genius. I just wish i could write a song 1/5th as good as he can, his producing skills are also brilliant. I would love to work with him at somepoint if it was ever doable!

Would you ever play a gig naked?
Loz and Daz could manage it, theyve got the figures for it. I wouldnt anymore, im too old and fat. Oli went topless for a time at our last gig...needless to say it wasnt pretty.

If you were a camel who would you most like to spit on?
ooooooooooOOOOOOH! good one. I have three passions in life, Football, Movies and Music. In music it has to be Jedward, for those prats to live "the dream" and do it despite being such obviously talentless assholes it makes me so angry!!!! In Movies, without question id bunch up everyone in Twilight films and have the biggest spit i could manage and cover them all for ruining Vampire's. In Football it would be Manchester United boss Alex Ferguson (i refuse to call him "sir" as he didnt earn it)

Sum your music up in two words?
Happy aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand....Clever?

What band would you love to play a show with?
Bowling For Soup would be a great show, we almost managed it last year with their acoustic tour...but then a mystery band who were joint last in the voting all of a sudden won after the site crashed (Im not bitter i swear). I think playing with the Army of Freshmen on their upcoming tour would also be great, weve still not managed to play with them since we formed and they helped me record.

What are the plans for the future?
At the moment its just book gigs, get as far away from Shropshire and North Wales as possible. We're looking into a small tour later in the year and recording our second and maybe third EP in the summer and beyond....We should probably send our stuff out to labels at some point aswell.

Dave Giles Review (Liverpool gig- 21st January 2011)

I would say Dave Giles is your typical cheeky Southern acoustic singer. However, he’s much better than any stereotypes. Opening his set by asking the crowd to use twitter to send him messages telling him what they were thinking of his set, you could think this guy was a bit of a “geek.” With songs like “Confessions of a Facebook stalker,” you probably wouldn’t be far wrong. His observations of life, fantastic personality and quick humour made his lyrics interesting and you could hear the crowd agreeing with his songs, knowing just how true they are. Dave drew the crowd into conversation and even those who didn’t seem to like him, had to laugh at his quick humour in response to the many witty comments that flew his way in between songs. This guy might not be everyone’s idea of a good artist but there’s no doubt his voice is unique and lovely to listen to, his songs are clever and funny and his interaction with the crowd is dynamic, making everyone feel involved. His cheeky smile and lovable nature made him more than enjoyable to watch, I really recommend you all check him out yourselves!! I know from feedback I heard that night Dave gained quite a lot of fans at this gig, including myself here at CoolKidsPromotions.

GIG REVIEW

Room Service Review (Liverpool gig- 21st January 2011)

On entering the stage, the audience seemed unsure about this 5 piece female fronted pop/rock band. However, this seemed to change within minutes. This band are lively and exciting, bringing something to the stage which most bands lack these days-a natural energy and sense of fun. The band sang a mix of their own songs, which are all brilliantly and cleverly written with riffs that just make you want to dance. For a band just starting out, they owned the stage with such a presence that most bands don’t have after years of performing.

Lead singer Emily Stuttard’s voice is so enviously beautiful and she left the girls in the crowd wishing they had even part of her talent and relaxed attitude. The acoustic song between her and guitarist Antony Hart was almost perfection and had the crowd swaying along, feeling every moment of the song with the two band members.

Mike Bladen, who can only be described as “cheeky chap” and front man of the band in that sense, worked the crowd while singing backing vocals and playing, proving anyone can multi task. He worked the crowd and got even the most reluctant members of the crowd dancing along.

For this band, it was one of their first gigs and if tonight’s performance was anything to go by, it definitely shouldn’t be one of their last. This upcoming band is a certain one to watch. Their songs are fresh and I’d say this band are just what the music industry needs right now.

From my name - Greg Wood

Tell us about your latest/upcoming single/album

Where would your dream venue be to play a live show?

Rexall Place in Edmonton because it's where I've seen all my idols play

What is the weirdest thing a fan has asked you to sign?

The opener bands t-shirt after the show because she thought I played in the first band.

Why do you love your fans so much?

Who says I love them? I appreciate fans that make it to every show and really push the music because they truly enjoy it not because its trendy or anything like that.

What’s the weirdest conversation you have ever had with a fan?

Ya for sure if it was a comfortable situation, why not?

If you were a camel who would you most like to spit on?

If I were a camel I wouldn't have the weaknesses of human jealousy, anger, fear, or insecurity, and therefore would not feel the need to spit on anyone in-particular. As a person I would never spit in anyones face I could do more with words.

Sum your music up in two words?

Crazy hearts

What band would you love to play a show with?

Nickleback

What are the plans for the future?

Just Giver' , keep playing music
